+The adverb 常cháng and it's reduplicated form 常常chángcháng always come after the subject in a sentence:
+1. 我朋友(常/常常)来看我。
+   wǒ péngyou (cháng/chángcháng) lái kàn wǒ
+   My friend often comes to see me.

+When the sentence is negated, only the monosyllabic form 常cháng is used.
+The ordering of 不 and 常 changes the meaning:

+  cháng bù
+  often not
+  (only really used in idiomatic expressions)
