#常 #adverb

The adverb 常cháng and it's reduplicated form 常常chángcháng always come after the subject in a sentence:
1. 我朋友(常/常常)来看我。
   wǒ péngyou (cháng/chángcháng) lái kàn wǒ
   My friend often comes to see me.

# Negation #不 
When the sentence is negated, only the monosyllabic form 常cháng is used.
The ordering of 不 and 常 changes the meaning:
- 不常
  bù cháng
  not often
  (commonly used)
- 常不
  cháng bù
  often not
  (only really used in idiomatic expressions)
